Deep Cleaning

Deep cleaning is a treatment which is often used as a first defense against impending gum disease. During your comprehensive oral evaluation, your dentist will use a probe to measure the depth of gum tissue between your teeth and your gums; If this depth is more than the normal healthy 3mm level, then you may be prescribed the Deep Scaling & Polishing treatment. The procedure involves removing the plaque, tartar and debris from these pockets the surface of the roots of the teeth.

Your dentist will then advise a schedule of proper cleaning, use of anti-bacterial mouth washes and regular check- ups to see if the gum health is improving. If these precautions are not enough to reverse the onset of periodontal disease, you will be referred to the Periodontist for further treatment.
